Christian Decker - Research Profile

Christian is an alumnus with a Bachelor of Science in Microbiology and a minor in Healthcare Management.

Christian Decker

  • His research looked into the regulation of carbohydrate transport genes in Enterococcus faecalis. The bacterium is one of the leading causes of hospital-acquired infections.
  • He got started in research after he was interested in learning more about a professor's research in a class they taught. He sent an email asking if he could learn more and join their lab in Fall 2023. He's been doing research since then!
  • For those just getting started in research, he suggests they should always reach out, you never know who has an opening in their lab unless you ask. Additionally you don't have to start research as soon as possible, he joined his senior year!
  • He is now working for KU Med in a research lab in the Nephrology and Hypertension department looking into Autosomal Dominant Polycystic Kidney Disease.
