General Information

Each year, through the James C. Gaither Junior Fellows Program, the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace offers approximately 12-14, one-year fellowships to uniquely qualified graduating seniors and individuals who have graduated during the past academic year. They are selected from a pool of nominees nominated by several hundred participating universities and colleges. James C. Gaither Junior Fellows work as research assistants to Carnegie’s senior scholars. The priority deadline for campus consideration is at the end of November or early December.

***Details for the annual application cycle will be emailed to the Center for Undergraduate Research & Fellowships each fall. Contact curf@ku.edu for more information.

According to the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace, Gaither Junior Fellows “have the opportunity to conduct research for books, co-author journal articles and policy papers, participate in meetings with high-level officials, contribute to congressional testimony, and organize briefings attended by scholars, journalists, and government officials.”

Applications are available in mid-October; in accordance with the wishes of the Fellowship sponsors, application information will not be posted online publicly.
