Our Impact

The Center for Undergraduate Research & Fellowships is committed to student success. This page details our impact for the 2024-2025 academic year.

Our Mission

In 2024, the Center for Undergraduate Research & Office of Fellowships merged to provide unified research and fellowships-focused services, programs, and resources for Jayhawks in all fields of study.

From history to visual arts to mechanical engineering, KU students in majors across campus can participate in undergraduate research and creative projects. CURF provides students with connections to research and grants and presentation support. High achieving students receive guidance through the process of applying for external fellowships and scholarships. Fellowship opportunities are available for all majors, including several for those interested in public service, STEM, study abroad, critical language acquisition, and graduate school.

What do students say?

"It has added a new dimension to the understanding of my field of study. KU's curriculum is very design-heavy for my major and is sometimes frustrating, especially as things feel like they are going around in circles. Research has helped me cross the bounds of codes and designs and has helped me to think outside of the box to see how my findings could eventually change or upgrade designs. Ultimately, my research has made me more outgoing in the sense that I feel more confident to ask questions I always had in my mind but was too hesitant to get out." - UGRA Recipient
